Name of the Organisation: Turkish Airlines Technic Inc. R&D Center
Organisation Short Name: Turkish Technic
Organisation Type: PRC
ACTIVITYTopic(s) of interest from 2018-2019 Transport Work Programme:
- JTI-CS2-2019-CFP10-AIR-01-42 Development of a methodology (test, measurement, analysis) to characterize the behaviour of composite structures under dynamic loading
Fields of Activity: Based at Istanbul’s Sabiha Gökçen Airport, Turkish Airlines Technic is the leading aircraft maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) services company in the region. Certified through EASA 145, JAA 145, EASA Part-21J and EASA Part-21G, FAA and Turkish DGCA for the performance of maintenance services, Turkish Airlines Technic offers a variety of maintenance services through its diversified shops, including airframe heavy maintenance, engine and APU overhaul, LDG overhaul, etc. As the only one-stop shop in the region and with its wide range of back shops certified for over 4,000 Boeing and 4,000 Airbus aircraft components, Turkish Airlines Technic offers customers A to Z maintenance services from its bases at Istanbul Atatürk Airport and Sabiha Gökçen Airport. Within its five wide & narrow-body hangars and one VIP & light aircrafts hangar in Istanbul, and one narrow-body hangar in Ankara, Turkish Airlines Technic provides maintenance services to its business partners, airlines, lessors and financial institutions. With over 82 years of experience and more than 8,000 qualified employees, Turkish Airlines Technic offers the advantage of using an integrated maintenance, repair and overhaul complex complete with comprehensive services.
Skills and Experise Offered: Turkish Airlines Technic would be a valued partner in a consortium to prepare dynamic modelling of structure and material (T1 task).
In previous works, in R&D Department of Turkish Airlines Technic we have done many analyzes according to EASA - CS 25.631 Bird Strike Damage Standard. Bird's velocity, mesh density, stacking sequence, material specifications are some of the critical design parameters in bird strike. The input parameters selected according to the DOE method (Design of Experiment). The effect of input parameters on the results of dynamic analysis was evaluated.
In this call (JTI-CS2-2019-CFP10-AIR-01-42) firstly, we will create a test matrix because there is a lot of analysis to be done. We know which parameters affect how much dynamic analysis results. We have determined this with the DOE (Design of Experiment) method in our previous bird strike analysis. Now, we will update the model according to the configuration given by the Topic Manager. Our previous work will save us time.
A methodology developed for the iterative analyses of bird impact utilizes artificial neural network approximation of FEA database formed with a lot of non-linear analyses involving contact. In the design tool, the structural analysis database will creat by combining parametric variables by each other. The number of intervals for each variable in the upper and lower range of the variables will determine with the parameters correlation study in which the significance of parameters are evaluated. In the end, we will demonstrate the design tool is compared with FEA and the theoretical approach, so we will verify the design tool. Especially, we want to work in T1 task because we have knowledge and experience in this area. We perform dynamic analyzes in Ls-Dyna program.
Moreover, Turkish Airlines Technic is a maintenance companies, so, composite workshops of Turkish Airlines Technic often repair damages like bird strike on Airbus and Boeing aircrafts. Turkish Airlines Technic will provide all the information and experience support about dynamic modelling of structure and material in this project.
