Fields of Activity: Warsaw is the capital and largest city of Poland. It is considered as an Alpha global city, a major international tourist destination and a significant cultural, political and economic hub. The City of Warsaw provides wide range of public services for its inhabitants. Public transport in Warsaw is managed and supervised by the Public Transport Authority (ZTM), which is a budgetary unit of the Capital City of Warsaw. Established in 1992, it has set up new standards in Poland by separating organization and controlling of public transport (PT) services from the operational tasks. ZTM is responsible for planning, organizing and coordination of the PT (network, timetable, etc.) in Warsaw and in cooperating communities in the metropolitan area (34). Our most important responsibilities include: • Ordering PT services by the operating companies (bus, tram, metro, railway), • Supervision over the actual functioning of PT, • Selling tickets and collecting of fares, ticket controlling, • Investments in PT development projects, • Ordering and taking part in studies and projects concerning development of PT, • Collecting data and providing analyses according to the demand on PT services, • Maintaining of infrastructure (bus and tram stops).

Skills and Experise Offered: Acting on behalf of the City of Warsaw ZTM organizes PT in the Warsaw agglomeration and plays an active role in the process leading to the creation and implementation of sustainable transport policy. Participation in international projects gives us chance to get familiar with new and innovative solutions aimed to improve public transport services and increase level of satisfaction of our passangers. It is also a good chance to exchange knowledge with our partners from other European cities. Our experience in PT development can be helpful in actions aimed to integrate many fields of public transport in one efficiently working system. Being the member of the consortium allows us to test in practice new business strategies and innovations.

Previous FP Projects Participated: List of relevant previous projects/activities
1. "A new culture of mobility in Warsaw" , "New quality of services - young employees as a motor of changes in public transport" and "Innovation factory in public transport in Warsaw” - (Leonardo Programme, 2009-2014) the common goal of these projects was the development of public transport in terms of investment, integration, communication management and its improvement by preparing a group of highly qualified specialists who will participate in the management of public transport in Warsaw. 2. CAPRICE – (INTERREG IVC, 2011-2016) ‘CAPital Regions Integrating Collective transport for increased energy Efficiency’. The project’s main aim was the exchange of experiences among local and regional authorities in Europe. It hereby promoted integrated public transport systems leading to improved energy usage. Therefore, workshops have been core element of the project in which the group and selected experts exchanged experiences on topics that concern public transport. CAPRICE enabled all project partners to mutually enrich and strengthen one another. As a result, CAPRICE identified good practices and defined recommendations for the national and European level. The project demonstrated all the benefits of promoting exchanges at the European level which provide excellent guidelines for developing a sustainable mobility policy. 3. INVOLVE – (INTERREG IVC, 2012-2015) the project’s objective was to provide local and regional authorities with tools and good practices that promote cooperation with the private sector in order to reduce transport problems in business areas, industrial areas, activities centres, etc. The project’s objective was to provide local and regional authorities with tools and good practices that promote cooperation with the private sector in order to reduce transport problems in business areas, industrial areas, activities centres, etc.
4. RESOLVE - Involving the retail sector in sustainable mobility (Interreg Europe, 2016-2021 – with ZDM (Public Road Authority in Warsaw)). Project aims to exchange best practice on mobility policies and actions to reduce carbon dioxide emissions and other pollutants generated by retail. It is about addressing the deterioration in retail trade and the need to move towards a sustainable mobility policy in urban areas. Website: https://www.interregeurope.eu/resolve/
5. UMii – (2016-2018, UITP and Road and Transport Authority in Dubai funds) aims to provide insights into urban mobility and innovation in cities across the world, and to deliver a guide for cities to foster innovation in their urban mobility services and systems. Data is collected globally from cities invited to participate in the index. The research methodology is developed around 3 dimensions, each dimension using 3 composite indicators. This framework should enable inter-city comparison and conversation, rather than scoring and ranking cities competitively. UMii is setting up a Forum where cities contributing to the index can exchange knowledge and learn “best and next practices”. The UMii Forum is a platform supporting city leaders and their officials to develop policies and conditions that result in innovative mobility solutions. Website: http://umi-index.org/about-umii/
6. DIAMOND (2018-2021, Horizon 2020) “Revealing fair and actionable knowledge from data to support women’s inclusion in transport systems”. Current transport systems do not sufficiently take into account physical and social characteristics of women in the design of products and services, and in fostering women’s employability in the industry. Technologies such as data mining and analytics, together with the use of elicitation techniques to gather and analyse information from different stakeholders, allow the generation of actionable knowledge for addressing gender-specific needs for transport decision-making, planning tools and methods. DIAMOND will exploit such technological advances and innovations, to (i) analyse real-world scenarios where these open issues exist, and (ii) take concrete action, to create a fair and inclusive transport system. DIAMOND’s main goal is to turn data into actionable knowledge with notions of fairness, in order to progress towards an inclusive and efficient transport system. This objective will be achieved by the development of a methodology based on the collection and analysis of disaggregated data, including new sources, analytics and management techniques. Thus this allows to identify, design and evaluate specific measures for fulfilling the needs and expectations of women as users of different transport modes and as jobholders in the sector. The knowledge gathered in the data analysis will then be fed into a toolbox that will provide recommendations on how to achieve fair inclusiveness for women in each of the identified usecases. Interdisciplinary analysis combining methods from social sciences and computer science will contribute to fairness of the model and its results (i.e. condition of being free from bias or injustice). To proof actionability, this project will make concrete advances in four real-world scenarios (use-cases) where inclusiveness is currently a central issue: 1.- railways and public multimodal transport, 2.- Vehicle Dynamics control towards autonomous driving, 3.- vehicle sharing and 4.- corporate social responsibility and employment.
