KhAI expression of interest for MG-2-1-2018 – Subtopic A

by Anna | Dec 14, 2017

ORGANISATION

Name of the Organisation: National Aerospace University "KhAI"

Organisation Short Name: KhAI

Organisation Type: HES

Country: Ukraine

ACTIVITY

Topic(s) of interest from 2018-2019 Transport Work Programme:

Fields of Activity: KhAI’s Department of automobiles and transport infrastructures and Laboratory of functional diagnostics of objects of animate and inanimate nature have strong experience in: • carrying out of ergonomic, neuroergonomic and psychophysiological studies in transport sector • assessment, identification, monitoring and forecasting of human functional state with the application of the advanced unique tools • use of biofeedback for cognitive activities effectiveness (e.g. for training of drivers) • development of tools for functional express diagnostics of operators (drivers , etc.) in extreme conditions.

Skills and Experise Offered: In relevance to the MG-2-1-2018 call - Subtopic A:
We have developed a unique multidisciplinary approach for modelling and analysis of the dynamic systems functioning. This approach is based on proprietary tools, means and methods (21 patent) and includes algorithms, programmes and integrative indicators for physical, mathematical and cybernetic modelling and analysis. The approach could be adapted for the investigation of the nature of human-machine interaction (consistency, compatibility, etc.). The tools of the approach allow solving problems related to the human factor, namely:
• carry out informational support of the functional state of the driver (pilot, etc.) and determine individual markers of possible functional breakdowns;
• ensure the effectiveness of training and retraining of drivers (pilots, etc.), which will increase their stress resistance;
• take into account the individuality of the functioning of the human body when selecting and admission of drivers (pilots, etc.) and develop new criteria for ensuring safety.
Being experienced in different types of psychophysiological and ergonomic studies, in the frame of the potential project under call MG-2-1-2018-subtopic A, the KhAI team can perform behavioural and perceptive studies in Eastern European region, including Ukraine, which is EU neighbouring country but whose transport users and operators has a lot of cultural peculiarities in terms of perception of danger, comprehension of rules, mobility behaviour, etc. The analysis of Eastern Europe countries will help to understand diversities and support the transfer of best practices and ensure a better transport culture beyond European continent, as required by the call.

Keywords: psychophysiological and ergonomic studies, human-machine interaction, driver functional state assessment, identification, monitoring and forecasting.

Previous FP Projects Participated: KhAI has experience in participating and coordinating of EU-funded projects (in total 4 H2020 projects, 5 FP7 projects, 2 FP6 projects). In line with the competencies described above, KhAI staff participated in numerous projects funded by State Fund for Fundamental Research of Ukraine, as well as took part in NATO-work group (II Ciocco, Italy, 2002) - Operator functional state and impaired performance in complex work environments; and in NASA grant for computer assessment of mood and accomplishment of activities (2003-2004).
