Fields of Activity: V2X, V2X Communications, Vehicle Traffic Analysis, Connected Cars
Skills and Experise Offered: Positioned in the Department of Computer Engineering, at Marmara University, the Vehicular Networks and Intelligent Transportation Systems Research Group (VeNIT-RG) focuses on novel and innovative researches in the field of vehicular networking and connected cars.
In the research group, we are mainly interested in vehicular networks, V2X communications and integration to 5G networks. Other research interests are Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS), Connected Cars, Internet of Things (IoT), Big Data: Sensing and Networking, and Sensor & Ad Hoc Networks.
We have the following skills and expertise:
- Implementing traffic safety applications
- Implementing traffic efficiency applications
- Traffic Analysis (Real Vehicle Trace Analysis)
- Modelling and Simulation
-- City traffic (urban/highway/ traffic lights)
-- V2V – V2I – V2N communication
-- LTE integrated simulation
- Design and development of algorithms for V2V and V2X
- Implementing V2V - V2I communications
- Building test environment
- Testing
-- via simulation
-- via test-bed
- In-vehicle sensor network and data gathering
We are also working on workload offloading for RSU and 5G MEC. RSU placement, resource scheduling, coverage and connectivity estimations are the research topics we are working on. Estimations and optimizations are done using the real vehicle traces gathered from Istanbul and Turkey.
Our aim is to bring in new and novel studies comprising protocol, network and system design; testing and measurement of the systems; developing applications and systems in the field.
